About KnowYourFinance

India-focused finance education, calculators, and decision frameworks built with visible sources, review dates, and clear editorial accountability.

Our Mission

Personal finance in India is unnecessarily complicated. Between confusing tax codes, an overwhelming number of mutual funds, and aggressive insurance agents selling toxic products, the average Indian investor is constantly losing money to bad advice. Our mission at KnowYourFinance is to level the playing field by providing untainted, mathematically sound, and actionable financial calculators and education.

Why We Built This

We believe that the best financial planner is the one that respects your privacy. That's why the KnowYourFinance app is built around local, on-device use for core financial data. We don't read your SMS, we don't require you to upload your portfolio to our servers, and we don't sell your app-entered financial data. The website may display ads to support publishing, and we disclose that separately.

  • 100% Privacy: All your financial data stays on your device.
  • No in-app ads or paywalls: The app experience stays focused on tools and planning.
  • India-First: Calculators designed specifically for Indian tax laws (Old vs New Regime, EPF, PPF).

Who Writes KnowYourFinance

AS

Amodh Shetty

Founder and personal finance educator

Amodh writes and maintains KnowYourFinance guides across Indian tax planning, credit cards, mutual funds, insurance, loans, and household finance calculators. The editorial approach is practical: start with official rules, show the math, disclose assumptions, and avoid product-pushing language.

KnowYourFinance is an education platform, not a SEBI Registered Investment Adviser. Content is educational and should not be treated as personalized investment, tax, or legal advice.

How We Build Trust

  • Visible sources: Articles cite regulator, tax authority, issuer, exchange, or research sources where factual claims depend on external rules or data.
  • Last verified dates: Every finance guide shows a last verified date so readers can judge freshness.
  • Review layer: Articles show author, reviewer, source count, trust note, and source labels before the main content.
  • Corrections path: Readers can report errors through the corrections page or support email.
  • Commercial separation: Product opinions cannot be bought. Website ads may support publishing, but editorial claims are reviewed independently.

Editorial Standards

We prioritize primary-source material from RBI, SEBI, IRDAI, PFRDA, Income Tax Department, exchanges, issuer documents, and official product disclosures. When a rule changes, affected articles are updated with a new verification date.
