• the KnowYourFinance iPhone app, and
• the KnowYourFinance website at knowyourfinance.org.

The app and website do not operate in exactly the same way. The app is designed around on-device processing for personal finance inputs. The website is a public publishing surface and may use cookies, basic hosting logs, and advertising technology.

2. How the iPhone App Handles Data

Our core design goal for the app is simple: your financial calculations and saved scenarios should not need to travel to our servers.

• On-device processing: core calculations run locally on your iPhone.
• Local storage: saved entries, preferences, and scenarios are intended to stay in local app storage.
• No account requirement: the app's core tools do not require registration with KnowYourFinance.
• Optional Apple-managed sync: if you enable iCloud or related Apple services, that sync is handled through Apple's infrastructure and privacy controls.

The app may request optional permissions only where they are needed for a feature, such as local notifications. It does not require access to contacts, SMS, email, camera, or other unrelated sensitive permissions for core use.

3. What the Website May Collect Automatically

Like most websites, knowyourfinance.org may process limited technical data automatically when you browse pages. This can include:

• IP address
• browser and device information
• referrer information
• requested pages and timestamps
• cookies or similar storage used for security, preferences, or advertising

This information may be processed by our hosting providers, content delivery tools, and advertising partners in order to deliver pages, keep the site secure, and serve or measure ads.

4. Advertising, Cookies, and Google AdSense

The website may use Google AdSense or related Google advertising products to serve ads. When ads are shown, Google and its partners may use cookies, local storage, or similar technologies to serve, limit, personalize, or measure advertising, subject to applicable law and consent requirements.

Depending on the surface you use, KnowYourFinance may rely on third parties such as:

• Apple: App Store distribution, device infrastructure, and any Apple-managed sync services you enable.
• Hosting and delivery providers: to serve website pages securely and reliably.
• Google AdSense and related advertising services: when ads are displayed on the website.

Each third party operates under its own terms and privacy documentation.

6. What We Do Not Ask For

• We do not require you to create a KnowYourFinance account to read articles.
• We do not require you to submit personal financial data to our servers to use the app's core calculators.
• We do not request access to unrelated phone permissions for core finance tools.

7. Your Choices

• Browser cookies: you can block or clear cookies through your browser settings.
• Advertising choices: where applicable, you can manage ad preferences or decline consent through supported consent tools.
• Local app data: you can delete saved information inside the app or remove the app from your device.
• Apple sync settings: if you use Apple-managed sync, you can change those settings through your Apple device and account controls.

8. Children's Privacy

KnowYourFinance is intended as a general educational finance product. We do not knowingly collect children's personal financial information through a KnowYourFinance account system because the core app and website do not require such an account for normal use.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as the product, website, ad stack, or legal requirements change. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
